The Santa Clara Broncos men’s basketball team has a rich history and a strong presence in NCAA Division I basketball

. Representing Santa Clara University, the Broncos compete in the West Coast Conference (WCC) and play their home games at the Leavey Center in Santa Clara, California

. The team is currently coached by Herb Sendek, who has been with the Broncos since 2016

The Broncos have a storied past, with their first basketball game dating back to 1904

. Over the years, they have made 11 appearances in the NCAA Tournament and six in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT)

. Notably, the 2010-11 team won the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT), and the 2012-13 team won the College Basketball Invitational (CBI)

. Santa Clara is the only team to have won both the CBI and CIT

The team has produced several collegiate All-Americans and NBA players, including Ken Sears, who led the Broncos to the 1952 Final Four and later played for the New York Knicks in the NBA

In recent years, the Broncos have returned to the NIT in both 2022 and 2023, and have produced first-round draft picks in the NBA draft
