Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States, is not just the wife of President Joe Biden but also a prominent figure in education and social work. Born on June 3, 1951, in Hammonton, New Jersey, Jill grew up in Pennsylvania. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Delaware, master’s degrees in education and English from West Chester University and Villanova University, and a doctorate in education from the University of Delaware.
Jill began her career as a high school teacher, teaching English and reading for 13 years. She also worked with adolescents with emotional disabilities at a psychiatric hospital. Following this, she became an English and writing instructor at Delaware Technical & Community College for 15 years.
Jill Biden is not just an educator but also the founder of the Biden Breast Health Initiative, co-founder of the Book Buddies program, and the Biden Foundation. She is active in Delaware Boots on the Ground and, with Michelle Obama, co-founded the Joining Forces initiative.
