Gaza, a coastal area on the Mediterranean Sea, is part of the occupied Palestinian territories. Approximately 2 million people live in Gaza within a small area of about 360 square kilometers, making it one of the most densely populated regions in the world.
Gaza has been under blockade by Israel since 2007, which has significantly impacted the economy, infrastructure, and daily life of its residents. The blockade restricts the movement of people and goods, leading to shortages of essential items such as food, medicine, and fuel. The region also suffers from frequent power outages and inadequate healthcare services.
The ongoing conflict between various Palestinian factions, particularly Hamas and Fatah, further complicates the situation in Gaza. Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, is considered an opposition group to Israel. Armed conflict between Hamas and Israel has led to widespread destruction in Gaza, with Israel launching several military operations in response to rocket attacks from the territory.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire. The infrastructure is continuously deteriorating, and the unemployment rate is extremely high, especially among the youth. Schools and hospitals face significant challenges in providing basic services.
