في منتصف القرن العشرين، ظهر رجل بشجاعة وتفانٍ ليغير مجرى التاريخ الأمريكي. كان ذلك الرجل هو الدكتور مارتن لوثر كينغ الابن، قائد حركة الحقوق المدنية في الولايات المتحدة. وُلِدَ في 15 يناير 1929 في أتلانتا، جورجيا، وكان له دور محوري في إنهاء التمييز العنصري وتحقيق المساواة بين السود والبيض.
بدأ كينغ نشاطه الاجتماعي والديني كقس في مونتغمري، ألاباما، حيث قاد احتجاجات سلمية تهدف إلى إنهاء الفُرقة العرقية في المرافق العامة والمدارس. كانت فلسفته مبنية على اللاعنف والمقاومة السلمية، متأثراً بالتعاليم المسيحية وأفكار المهاتما غاندي.

In the mid-20th century, a man of courage and dedication emerged to change the course of American history. That man was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. Born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, he played a pivotal role in ending racial discrimination and achieving equality between black and white people.
King began his social and religious activism as a pastor in Montgomery, Alabama, where he led peaceful protests aimed at ending racial segregation in public facilities and schools. His philosophy was based on nonviolence and peaceful resistance, influenced by Christian teachings and the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi.
His famous “I Have a Dream” speech had a profound impact on the nation’s collective consciousness. King delivered this speech before more than 250,000 people in Washington, D.C., in 1963, playing a crucial role in pressuring the government to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
But his struggle was not easy; he faced imprisonment and death threats, yet he continued his campaign with courage and determination. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 in recognition of his efforts in the fight for justice and equality.
