Petra, the Rose City, is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and is considered the jewel of Jordan. Established in the 4th century BC by the Nabataeans, Petra is a city carved entirely into the pinkish-red rocks of the mountains. The magic begins as you enter the city through the “Siq,” a narrow, long corridor flanked by towering cliffs. At the end of the path, the stunning “Treasury” emerges with its pinkish-brown hues, a breathtaking building that symbolizes Petra.
One of the most magnificent spots in Petra is the “Monastery,” which can be reached by climbing hundreds of steps. The panoramic views from the top are simply breathtaking. Petra is also renowned for its detailed carvings, temples, and tombs that showcase the exquisite Nabataean architecture.
The enchantment doesn’t end there; as the sun sets, Petra glows with warm hues, adding an almost magical charm. At night, visitors can enjoy the “Petra by Night” tour, where the city is illuminated by thousands of candles, making the experience more romantic and mysterious.
