مرحلة الشتاء الحقيقية…
موسم الشبط يعتبر من الفترات الزمنية المميزة في المملكة العربية السعودية، إذ يحمل في طياته برودة الشتاء الحقيقية. يمتد هذا الموسم لفترة ثلاثة عشر يوماً، ويتبع مباشرة فترة المربعانية. في هذا الوقت من السنة، تنخفض درجات الحرارة بشكل كبير، وتصبح الليالي أطول وأكثر برودة.
في الشبط، تكون الرياح الشمالية القارسة هي السمة الغالبة، وهي تأتي محملة بالبرودة القاسية. يترافق ذلك مع زيادة في استخدام وسائل التدفئة في المنازل، وكثرة تناول المشروبات الساخنة التي تمنح الدفء مثل الشاي والقهوة.
العادات والتقاليد…
وفي هذا الموسم، تتنوع الأنشطة والتقاليد الشعبية التي تعكس الروح الجماعية للمجتمع. نجد الأفراد يجتمعون حول المدافئ التقليدية ويتبادلون الأحاديث والقصص. كما يُعد تحضير الأكلات الشتوية الدسمة من الأمور المحببة، مثل الهريس والجريش.
يتميز موسم الشبط بظاهرة “الصراميح”، وهي نوع من الأمطار التي تهطل بغزارة وتسبب في بعض الأحيان تراكم الثلوج في المناطق الشمالية من المملكة. هذه الظاهرة الطبيعية تجذب عشاق الطقس والمغامرين الذين يستمتعون بالاستمتاع بمناظر الشتاء الخلابة.
الحياة البرية…
وبالنسبة للحياة البرية، فإن موسم الشبط يشكل تحدياً حقيقياً للحيوانات التي تعيش في البراري. بعض الحيوانات تدخل في سبات شتوي بحثاً عن الدفء، بينما تهاجر الطيور بحثاً عن مناطق أكثر دفئاً.

Shbat season is one of the distinctive periods in Saudi Arabia, carrying with it the true chill of winter. This season lasts for thirteen days and follows directly after the Al-Murabba’aniyah period. During this time of year, temperatures drop significantly, and nights become longer and colder.
In Shbat, the predominant feature is the biting northern winds, which come laden with extreme cold. This is accompanied by an increase in the use of heating in homes and the frequent consumption of hot drinks that provide warmth, such as tea and coffee.
Customs and Traditions…
During this season, various cultural activities and traditions reflect the communal spirit. People gather around traditional heaters and exchange stories and conversations. Preparing hearty winter foods is also a beloved activity, with dishes like harees and jareesh being particularly popular.
Shbat season is marked by the phenomenon of “Sarrameeh,” a type of heavy rainfall that sometimes leads to snow accumulation in the northern regions of the Kingdom. This natural occurrence attracts weather enthusiasts and adventurers who enjoy the picturesque winter scenes.

For wildlife, Shbat season poses a real challenge. Some animals enter winter hibernation seeking warmth, while birds migrate in search of warmer areas.
