نيلسون مانديلا، الأيقونة التي ألهمت العالم، هو بطل الكفاح ضد التمييز العنصري ونضال الشعوب من أجل الحرية والعدالة. ولد في 18 يوليو 1918 في بلدة مفيزو بجنوب إفريقيا، وترعرع وسط نظام قائم على العنصرية والتمييز، المسمى نظام الأبارتايد.
قضى مانديلا سنواته الأكاديمية في دراسة الحقوق، حيث انخرط بسرعة في الفعاليات السياسية المناهضة للأبارتايد. في عام 1961، أصبح مانديلا قائداً للجناح المسلح للمؤتمر الوطني الأفريقي، ومن ثم بدأ نضالاً مسلحاً ضد النظام. لكنه لم يكن نضالاً بالسلاح فقط. في 1964، حكم عليه بالسجن مدى الحياة بتهمة التآمر للإطاحة بالحكومة.
استمر مانديلا في السجن لمدة 27 عامًا، وظل خلالها رمزًا للمقاومة والصمود. في هذه السنوات، تحول السجن إلى مدرسة للأمل حيث لم يتوقف عن التعليم والكتابة والإلهام. وأثمرت جهوده في النهاية عن إطلاق سراحه في 1990، ليصبح أول رئيس أسود لجنوب إفريقيا في 1994.
بعد صعوده إلى السلطة، لم يكن مانديلا يحمل مرارة تجاه القمع الذي عانى منه، بل دعا إلى المصالحة والتسامح. عمل جاهداً على تأسيس أمة قوامها الوحدة والتنوع من خلال إصلاحات سياسية واجتماعية شاملة، محققاً بذلك أرثى خالدًا في ذاكرة الإنسانية.
ولقد ألهمت حياته الكثيرين، بل أصبح رمزاً عالميًا للسلام والعدالة وحقوق الإنسان. مانديلا لم يكن فقط زعيمًا سياسيًا بل إنسان كرس حياته لخدمة الآخرين، حاملًا شعلة الأمل والتغيير لكل من يؤمن بأن الظلم لن يدوم.

Nelson Mandela, the icon who inspired the world, is a hero of the struggle against racial discrimination and the fight for freedom and justice. Born on July 18, 1918, in the town of Mvezo, South Africa, he grew up amidst a system based on racism and discrimination, known as apartheid.
Mandela pursued his academic career by studying law, swiftly immersing himself in the political activities against apartheid. In 1961, Mandela became the leader of the armed wing of the African National Congress, and thus began an armed struggle against the regime. But it was not just a battle of arms. In 1964, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for conspiring to overthrow the government.
Mandela spent 27 years in prison, during which he remained a symbol of resistance and resilience. These years turned prison into a school of hope where he never ceased to learn, write, and inspire.
