As the spokesperson for the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Makdissi skillfully conveyed the government’s perspective in an atmosphere fraught with contradictions and unrest.
Born in Damascus, Jihad Makdissi initially studied architecture but later chose a path in diplomacy, becoming the official face of Syria on the international stage.
