كان هناك رجل أسود في الخمسينيات والستينيات من القرن العشرين في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية يُدعى مارتن لوثر كينغ جونيور. ولد عام 1929، في زمن كان فيه الفصل العنصري هو النظام السائد، حيث كان يتم التفريق بين البيض والسود في المدارس، المطاعم، وحتى الحافلات. لكن مارتن لوثر كان لديه حلم. حلم بعالم يكون فيه الأطفال السود والبيض يعيشون معًا بسلام.
كينغ كان واعظًا، ولكنه كان أكثر من ذلك بكثير. كان زعيم حركة الحقوق المدنية، حيث قاد ملايين السود في مسيرة طويلة نحو الحرية والمساواة. واحدة من أبرز لحظات حياته كانت في 28 أغسطس 1963، عندما ألقى خطابه الشهير “لدي حلم” أمام مئات الآلاف من الناس في واشنطن دي سي.

There was a black man in the 1950s and 60s in the United States named Martin Luther King Jr. Born in 1929, during a time when segregation was the norm, blacks and whites were separated in schools, restaurants, and even buses. But Martin Luther had a dream. He dreamed of a world where black and white children could live together in peace.
King was a preacher, but he was much more than that. He was a leader of the civil rights movement, guiding millions of blacks on a long journey towards freedom and equality. One of the most significant moments in his life was on August 28, 1963, when he delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech in front of hundreds of thousands of people in Washington D.C.
King believed in peaceful struggle, following the method of nonviolent resistance he learned from Mahatma Gandhi. However, he faced numerous challenges; he was threatened, beaten, and even imprisoned. But his will was strong. Ultimately, he was assassinated on April 4, 1968, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy.
