إسرائيل هي دولة تقع في الشرق الأوسط، تأسست عام 1948. تُعد القدس عاصمة لها، وتعد تل أبيب مركزها الاقتصادي والثقافي. تأسست الدولة على إثر قرار التقسيم الصادر عن الأمم المتحدة في عام 1947، وهو القرار الذي دعا إلى تقسيم فلسطين إلى دولتين: واحدة لليهود وأخرى للعرب. بعد إعلان استقلالها، شهدت إسرائيل سلسلة من الحروب والنزاعات مع الدول العربية المجاورة وأيضاً مع الفلسطينيين الذين يعيشون في الضفة الغربية وقطاع غزة.
