مارتن لوثر كينغ الابن لم يكن فقط خطيباً مذهلاً، بل كان رمزاً للنضال من أجل الحقوق المدنية في الولايات المتحدة. وُلد في 15 يناير 1929 في أتلانتا، جورجيا، كينغ كان يتمتع بشجاعة لا تضاهى في مواجهة الظلم. في عام 1955، قاد واحدة من أولى حملات مقاطعة الحافلات في مونتغمري، ألاباما، والتى كانت البداية الحقيقية لحركة الحقوق المدنية.
لكن ما الذي جعله مميزاً حقاً؟ إنها مسيرته السلمية وخطاباته الملهمة. في 28 أغسطس 1963، وقف كينغ أمام جموع غفيرة في واشنطن وألقى خطابه الشهير “لدي حلم”. هذا الخطاب لم يكن مجرد كلمات، بل كان نداءً للحرية والمساواة، داعياً إلى عالم يتم فيه الحكم على الأفراد بأخلاقهم وليس بألوان بشرتهم.
كينغ كان يملك رؤية لعالم أفضل، ولهذا السبب قاد المسيرات، وواجه السجون، وتعرض للتهديدات، لكنه لم يتراجع أبداً. بسبب شجاعته وتضحياته، تم تمرير قانون الحقوق المدنية لعام 1964 وقانون حقوق التصويت لعام 1965.
لكن في ليلة قاتمة في ممفيس، تينيسي، في 4 أبريل 1968، تم اغتيال مارتن لوثر كينغ الابن. ترك كينغ وراءه إرثًا لا يمحى، وإلهامًا لا يُنسى لكل من يحلم بالعدالة والمساواة.

Martin Luther King Jr. was not just an astonishing orator but a symbol of the civil rights struggle in the United States. Born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, King had an unmatched courage to confront injustice. In 1955, he led one of the first bus boycotts in Montgomery, Alabama, marking the true beginning of the civil rights movement.
But what made him truly special? It was his peaceful marches and inspiring speeches. On August 28, 1963, King stood before a vast crowd in Washington and delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. This was not just a collection of words but a call for freedom and equality, envisioning a world where individuals are judged by their character rather than the color of their skin.
King held a vision for a better world, and for that, he led marches, faced imprisonment, and endured threats, but he never backed down. Because of his bravery and sacrifices, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 were passed.
Yet, on a fateful night in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. King left behind an indelible legacy and an unforgettable inspiration for all who dream of justice and equality.
