Dee Dee suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a rare condition where a person pretends another individual is ill, or induces illnesses in them, to gain attention and sympathy. Gypsy was the victim of this pathological condition. She was forced to use a wheelchair, take unnecessary medications, and even undergo needless surgeries.
But everything changed one fateful night. After years of torment, Gypsy collaborated with her online boyfriend to kill her mother, in a desperate bid to escape the living nightmare.
Once the crime was uncovered, Gypsy and her boyfriend were arrested, and the story spread like wildfire, sparking a wave of empathy and debates about the murky boundaries between perpetrator and victim.
